Most Rust servers have a ceiling. You hit max level, you've got the best gear, and there's nothing left to chase. On MARKIII-RUST, that's where Master Levels begin — an endgame prestige system that gives dedicated players a reason to keep pushing long after they've conquered everything else.
What Are Master Levels?
Master Levels are a prestige tier that unlocks once you reach the standard maximum level on the server. Think of it as New Game+ for your character progression. Each Master Level requires significantly more XP than the last, but rewards you with increasingly powerful permanent bonuses.
The key word is permanent. Unlike most progression on the server, Master Level progress persists across wipes. This is one of the few systems that rewards long-term commitment to MARKIII-RUST, giving returning players a tangible advantage that reflects their dedication.
Unlock: Reach standard max level first

Master Level Rewards
Each Master Level grants a reward. These range from permanent stat boosts to exclusive cosmetics that show off your dedication to every other player on the server.
| Level Range | Reward Type | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| ML 1–10 | Minor permanent boosts | +1% gather rate per level, +50 max HP at ML10 |
| ML 11–20 | Moderate boosts + cosmetics | Exclusive chat titles, coloured name tags, +2% craft speed |
| ML 21–35 | Significant boosts + exclusives | Unique tool skins, permanent XP multiplier, +5% NPC damage |
| ML 36–50 | Elite rewards | Custom chat colour, legendary title, exclusive base decorations, permanent blueprint unlocks |
| ML 50+ | Prestige rewards | Even more exclusive perks and recognition — the ultimate long-term grind for dedicated players |
How XP Works at Master Level
Master Level XP is earned from everything — raiding, gathering, crafting, events, drone battles. The difference is the scale. Where standard levels might require thousands of XP, Master Levels require tens of thousands, with each subsequent level demanding more than the last.
This exponential curve means the first few Master Levels come relatively quickly (a dedicated player might hit ML5 in their first wipe after unlocking), but pushing into the higher tiers takes serious long-term play across multiple wipes.
SkillTree System
Alongside Master Levels, MARKIII-RUST also features a SkillTree system that resets monthly with 5 levels of prestige. This gives you both a long-term grind (Master Levels persisting across wipes) and a shorter monthly cycle of progression to keep things fresh. The two systems complement each other perfectly — SkillTree for monthly goals, Master Levels for lifetime dedication.
XP Multipliers
Several things boost your Master Level XP gain. VIP packages include XP multipliers, certain events offer bonus XP windows, and your Profession level also provides a small passive XP boost to Master Levels. Stacking these multipliers is how the top players on the leaderboard climb so quickly.
The Prestige Leaderboard
Master Levels come with a server-wide leaderboard. Your Master Level is visible to all players and displayed next to your name in chat. High Master Level players are respected members of the community — they've been around, they know the server, and they've put in the hours.
The leaderboard creates a healthy competitive element on what is otherwise a PVE server. You're not competing by raiding each other's bases — you're competing through dedication and mastery of the server's systems.
Is It Worth Grinding?
The permanent stat boosts alone make Master Levels worth pursuing. Even small percentage increases in gathering rate compound over time into massive resource advantages. And because progress persists across wipes, every session contributes to your long-term power.
But honestly, the biggest draw for most players is the exclusivity. Those custom chat colours and legendary titles can't be bought — only earned. In a community as active as MARKIII-RUST's, that visibility matters.
