Welcome to MARKIII-RUST. Whether you're brand new to Rust or a PVP veteran looking for a more relaxed experience, this guide will get you up and running on the server as quickly as possible.
Connecting to the Server
Open Rust and head to the server browser. Type MARKIII in the search bar and you'll see both our EU and US servers. Pick the one closest to you for the best ping and hit connect.
Alternatively, join our Discord where you'll find direct connect links pinned in the server-info channel. This is also where you'll find wipe announcements, event schedules, and the community.
Type: PVE (Player vs Environment — no player raiding)
Map Size: 5250
Wipe Schedule: Bi-weekly (every other Thursday) at 7PM GMT
Regions: EU and US servers available
Cost: Free to play (optional VIP packages available)
Your First 30 Minutes
When you first spawn, use the /kit command to claim your starter kit. It'll give you basic tools, some food, and enough building materials to get a small base down. This saves you the tedious rock-hitting phase and gets you straight into the action.
Next, find a spot you like and build a starter base. On a PVE server, you don't need to worry about raid-proof designs — just focus on having enough space for your crafting stations and storage. A 2x2 with an airlock is plenty to start.
Once you've got a base, type /sethome base to save a teleport point. You can teleport back anytime with /home base. This is one of the most useful features on the server — learn it early.
Essential Commands
/kit — Claim your daily kit (improves with playtime rank)
/sethome [name] — Save a teleport location
/home [name] — Teleport to a saved location
/tpr [player] — Send a teleport request to another player
/playtime — Check your total playtime and current rank
/profession — Open the profession selection menu
/shop — Open the server rewards shop
/dronebattle — Queue for a drone battle match
/masterlevel — Check your master level progress
Choosing a Profession
One of the first things you should do is pick a profession using /profession. This gives you a specialisation that earns passive bonuses as you play. If you like mining, go Miner. If you want to focus on raiding NPC bases, go Hunter. There's no wrong choice — check our Professions Guide for a full breakdown of each path.
What to Do First
Hit Some Easy Raidable Bases
Open your map and look for green markers — those are Easy raidable bases. With your starter kit gear, you can tackle these for quick loot and get familiar with how the raiding system works. See our Raidable Bases Guide for strategies.
Join Events
Watch chat for event announcements. When one pops up, head to the marked location and participate. Events are the fastest way to earn rewards and get into the server's rhythm. Even as a new player, you can contribute to group events and earn your share of the loot.
Explore the Map
MARKIII-RUST runs a 5250 size map packed with custom monuments, NPC camps, and points of interest. Take time to explore — you'll discover things that aren't on any map marker, and you'll learn the geography that makes farming and event attendance more efficient.
Meet the Community
Use voice chat, type in global chat, or hop on Discord. The MARKIII community is one of the friendliest in Rust. Most players are happy to help new arrivals with tips, spare gear, or a spot in their team for harder content.
Understanding the Wipe Cycle
MARKIII-RUST wipes every other Thursday at 7PM GMT. Community votes dictate some of what gets wiped — things like blueprints may carry over depending on the vote. Your Playtime Rank, Master Levels, and server rewards points always persist across wipes. The SkillTree system resets monthly with 5 levels of prestige, giving you a fresh progression cycle to chase.
Wipe day is actually the best time to join. Everyone starts from scratch, the map is fresh, and the whole community is online and active. If you're reading this mid-wipe, don't worry — you can still jump in and catch up quickly with the starter kit and easy raidable bases.
Next Steps
Once you're established, start exploring the deeper systems. The Havoc System gives you endgame gear to chase. Drone Battles offer PVP without risk. Master Levels give long-term goals that persist across wipes. And the 50+ events ensure there's always something to do.
MARKIII-RUST is designed to have weeks of content per wipe. Take your time, explore at your own pace, and enjoy the ride.
